Teladoc

The Teladoc telemedicine benefit is available to all full-time, benefits-eligible Valdosta City Schools employees and their family members, with a $0 copay for each consultation. This convenient service provides 24-hour access to board-certified licensed physicians, ensuring you and your family members can get the care you need when you need it. Speak with a licensed physician for non-complex medical needs and advice, all at no cost to you.

Important Documents: vcsbenefits.org/resources

Teladoc members can consult with a physician 24/7/365 by phone, online video, or mobile app from anywhere. You can get advice and treatment for non-emergency medical concerns.  You can also use Teladoc for medical advice and care in the following situations:

  • When your primary care physician is not available or accessible.
  • After normal business hours, nights, and weekends.
  • When you are at home, traveling, or don’t want to take time off work for a doctor’s appointment.
  • When you need a prescription refill (not all scripts will be filled by your Teledoc physician).

This benefit, independent of your State Health Medical plan, provides $0 copay consultations, making it an affordable option for addressing minor medical concerns. For those not enrolled in a State Health Benefit Plan (SHBP), this is a valuable alternative if your current coverage doesn’t include a no-cost telemedicine benefit.

Important Information for Members and Dependents to Access Coverage

  • Visit the Teladoc website at www.teladoc.com/mobile or by calling Teladoc at (800) Teladoc (835-2362)
  • Download the Teladoc Account Registration Flyer for detailed instructions on how to create an account.
  • Add any dependents when registering for your account so they can seek services when needed. Dependents age 18 and older need to set up their own account.
  • Employees will need to contact Teladoc once their benefits are effective to set up their account.

Teladoc Member Registration

Members and your eligible dependents can register by calling Teladoc direct at 1-800-835-2362 or accessing the Telacdoc website at www.Teladoc.com.  Attached is a How to Register for Teladoc flyer to assist members with the initial registration.

Please Note:

  • During the registration process, you will see Valdosta City Schools appear as the designated program/account name.
  • If you have any problems with the online process, please contact Teladoc’s toll free number at 1-800-835-2362 for assistance.  When calling Teladoc, if asked for a Company Name/Insurance Provider, please indicate Valdosta City Schools to be recognized.

Some Important Tips To Help You Register:

  • To begin, select “Register now”.
  • To confirm coverage, input your First Name, Last Name, Email, Country, Zip Code, Gender, and Date of Birth as listed on the enrollment roster your administrator provided to Teladoc.
    • To confirm coverage, all data entered must match exactly to the information your administrator provided to Teladoc.
    • A special code is not required for registration; leave code box unchecked.
  • At the next prompt, Teladoc will match your benefits to the information you provided.
    • If you are only listed under our HealtheChoices Teladoc program, your account information should appear as Valdosta City Schools; click Next to finish creating your account.
    • If you are also listed under a carrier’s Teladoc program (BCBS, CIGNA, UHC, etc.), the carrier option may appear first.  If this is the case, please find and click Create a new account then follow prompts to finish creating your account under Valdosta City Schools.  If you need to Create a new account, use a unique username and password.  Do not reuse a previous username and password.
  • PLEASE NOTE: If you are prompted to “Select your health insurance”, STOP, do not continue.  This message may indicate data entered by member does not match exactly to the information your administrator provided to Teladoc.  Please contact your administrator to confirm your information that was provided to Teladoc (spelling of name, address, date of birth, etc.) matches the information you are entering.  If any of your information does not match, your administrator will need to provide the correct information to teladoc@healthechoices.com.
  • To finish creating your account, create a new username and password (do not reuse a previous username and password), answer the Security and Visit Preference questions, check the Acceptance box then click Create account.

Once member registration has been completed

  • Members can add their eligible dependents (legal spouse and dependent children) for free - click on My Family tab / select My Dependents from the drop-down / click Add New Dependent and complete profile screen.
    • If dependent is under 18, the profile data enrolls and registers the dependent.
    • If dependent is 18+, the profile data serves to enroll only.  The 18+ dependent is required to complete their own registration online or by phone using the same instructions above.
      • Please Note:
        • Dependent registration must include the same dependent information (name, gender, date of birth, address) that the Primary member provided to Teladoc when completing dependent’s profile screen.
        • Dependent will also be under the same Company Name/Insurance Provider as the Primary member (Valdosta City Schools).
  • Members can print a copy of their ID card - click on My Account tab / select Print ID Card from the drop-down.
  • Members can request a consult - member’s Medical History must be completed prior to requesting a consult.

Please Note: New members must wait until their actual effective date; or later, to complete their Teladoc registration.  If a member tries to register a Teladoc account prior to their effective date, Valdosta City Schools will not appear as the designated program/account name because the member’s information does not go active/live in Teladoc’s system until their actual effective date.  If a member tries to register a Teladoc account prior to their effective date, they are creating a “DTC Open” account (Direct Teladoc Client) which requires a copay for General Medicine consults.
